THE LONG ROAD, 2016
This song has been waiting to be released, and it looks like the winter of 2016-17 will be the right time. Its inception came from my friend Phil Brennan, manager for the great Spyro Gyra jazz/fusion band, when he offered to put together a new record for me. The new record would be comprised of a mix of cover songs I would sing along with some songs from my back catalogue. THE LONG ROAD was the first song. Phil brought in the producer, Ben Wisch, the musicians and the great Irish singer Maura O’Connell. It was magical. However, as fate had the upper hand, that same summer I was in a near-fatal car accident which left me temporarily paralyzed and thus put an end to our plans. Now, almost two decades later and playing better then ever, I think it is time to let the song sing itself to the world. This magical song, captured 18 years ago in the upstate studio Beartracks, is ready to be heard.
So, HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.
